Baramulla, July 19 (KNO): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday said the administration is closely monitoring the flood situation in Poonch and Rajouri, where flash floods and landslides have caused loss of life and extensive damage, adding that the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra has been temporarily suspended as a precautionary measure. Speaking to reporters in Baramulla, the Lieutenant Governor, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said rescue and relief operations are underway on a war footing, with multiple agencies working in close coordination to assist the affected population. “We are closely monitoring the situation in Poonch and Rajouri. The Amarnath Yatra has been temporarily suspended. Sadly, some people have lost their lives. The SDRF, Police and other agencies are working jointly. The exact number of casualties will be shared after official confirmation,” Sinha said. He said the administration is in constant touch with officials on the ground and is ensuring that every possible assistance is being extended to the affected districts. The Lieutenant Governor added that all concerned departments have been directed to expedite rescue and relief measures and provide every possible support to those affected by the flash floods and landslides. Earlier, addressing the gathering, LG Sinha said tomorrow marks the completion of 100 days of the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir campaign. “During these 100 days, volunteers reached people across villages and towns, met affected families, supported them and worked with complete dedication to heal society,” he said.—(KNO)
